Access texture from script

Ok, i thought this would be easier than its turning out to be. Im loading a texture using Resources Load, then i need to change the size. It says the texture is not readable, and the only thing i see on other questions is "Simply check the isReadable flag" of which i do not see... In the ref, i see a Read/Write flag in advances only..tried this, the second i run the game it resets to Texture, as the ref states unity does this for you. I must be missing something very simple. My "texture" is just a 8x8 pixel box, completely black. First attempt at Texture2D, so i am very new to this. Any help is appreciated.
